Qatar's Education City in Doha is an integral part of its ambitious and innovative program for promoting education, science and community development. The complex hosts a number of important international universities, including a branch campus of the prestigious Carnegie Mellon University, a center of excellence and innovation in interdisciplinary research. The complex is crossed by a green walkway, flanked by palm trees and water features, linking the various institutions and leading to Carnegie Mellon's large central atrium, the heart of the campus, from which its various facilities are accessed. A place to meet and socialize, the atrium is inundated by light from above and crossed by circulation links on all levels of the three-story building, which comprises classrooms, a conference hall, a library, study areas and offices. The various spaces are equipped with the most advanced technologies for instruction and research, and completed by functional furnishing systems that respond to specific project requirements.
