Kengo Kuma was the guest of honor at the third edition of the "Barbara Cappochin" International Architecture Biennial.
With an exhibition curated by Kuma himself, in collaboration with Carlotta De Bevilacqua, the exhibition “Due carpe: acqua/terra - villaggio/città - Fenomenologie” presented a virtual voyage that wound its way through ancient Japanese traditions, involving visitors in an original and deeply moving experience. Two imposing structures in the form of carps, built in sheer organza and also viewable from within, together with a raised walkway in backlit glass, acted as projection screens on which the architect showed images of his most acclaimed works and in this way narrated his artistic and professional life. The carps, which in Japan are a symbol of new life, represented “the close ties between new architecture and tradition, as well as a symbolic bridge between Italy and Japan.” UniFor supported the project as a technical sponsor.
