AstraZeneca. London 2010

The London headquarters of AstraZeneca, a prominent pharmaceutical company on an international level, occupies four floors of the new office complex on Two Kingdom Street, in Paddington. The architectural characteristics of the elegant building – compositional rigor, simplicity of forms, transparency and flexible layout – are reiterated in the design of the interiors. The organizational scheme is based on the allocation of activities along the perimeter of the building, in order to make the most of the abundant natural light afforded by the transparent building envelope. The executive offices, conference rooms and meeting spaces are arranged along the central spine of each floor, enclosed and protected by transparent walls, partially screened by chromatic LED lighting, while the open-space workstations in the task areas are aligned in an orderly manner adjacent to the glazed facade.
