UniFor, Viale Pasubio 15 - Milano

Final component of the XYZ office system, the Z desk is the result of a collaborative aim to create a sit/stand desk without electronic actuators or crank handles.

The total absence of power cables and the unique nature of the Z desks allow users to move, combine and organize them freely according to individual uses and work requirements.

Z DESK

“The Z desk completes the XYZ system, which has been designed to facilitate more flexible working within the office. The worktop can be tuned to the user’s requirements, with the very lightest of touches. Our shared aim was to create intuitive and smooth movement, without electronic actuators or crank handles.”

- Mike Holland, Head of Industrial Design, Foster + Partners

The total absence of power cables and the unique nature of the Z desks allow users to move, combine and organize them freely according to individual uses and work requirements.

The desk is equipped with a custom-engineered spring and cam mechanism, housed within an aluminium frame, that can adjust and maintain the position of the work surface quickly and intuitively with simple manual pulling and pushing movements. The double-sided frame accepts a range of materials, from acoustic fabric to timber veneer.

Z Desk is part of the XYZ collection by Foster + Partner Industrial Design, conceived for flexible work environments.

X by Foster + Partners Industrial Design, named for its distinctive X-shaped post, is a versatile shelving unit that contributes to workspace reconfigurations, ensuring clear lines of sight. Its minimalist aesthetic seamlessly blends into any environment, whether in timber or aluminium.

The Y Table by Foster + Partners Industrial Design is a lightweight, reconfigurable table system, designed to use minimum material while offering maximum support.
The Y-shaped steel legs of the table Y can be easily reconfigured to allow for different seating arrangements, and they can also be used to link different tabletops together, creating larger and deeper spans with only a few elements.
