Premio Gabriele Basilico 2nd edition

13 febbraio 2018

The winner of Basilico Prize 2nd edition is Jiehao Su, born in China in 1988 and living in the United States.
Gabriele Basilico Prize Jury met on 20th January 2018 at the Ordine degli Architetti P.P.C. della Provincia di Milano: after discussing and analyzing the submitted photographic projects, the Jury shortlisted 7 photographers.

The Basilico Prize, promoted by Ordine degli Architetti, P. P. C. della Provincia di Milano, the Studio Gabriele Basilico, and the Fondazione Studio Marangoni, is dedicated to Gabriele Basilico, one of the most outstanding and internationally known figures in the field of architecture and landscape photography, and wants to become a reference for the new generations of artists.

The work Jiehao Su dedicated to Chinese landscape (Borderlands, 2012-2015) represents an in-depth study on territories, people, animals, details, all elements deeply rooted in the photographer’s personal history. Su proposes a spontaneous and harmonious tale, made of delicate and sensitive images, which reflects his search for a sense of belonging and identity. This is the understanding upon which Jiehnao Su’s work is based: a new project dedicated to Beijing, marked by a tension between fiction and reality, present experience and memory .

UniFor is proud of its role as technical sponsor of the prize in the great photographer’s memory.
